Why commission a report? Script development, as anyone who's worked in the field will know, can be a lengthy process with some surprising twists and turns, some of them welcome, some not so much. I am certainly used to being in it for the long haul, but if you're not sure about making a long-term commitment or want to gauge how helpful I can be,  a report provides a one-off option.

A report might make sense  if you've been in development with something for a while from one through any number of drafts - you've taken it so far but you seem to be treading water and  need a fresh input to kick-start development once again.

Alternatively, you might be at the beginning stages with something; you have the germ of an idea, a fascinating situation or character, or story-world that could potentially amaze, but you're aware that it's incomplete, that a finished script is a long way off, and an unthreatening take on it from a  third party who is sworn to confidentiality and does not have the power of life or death, could seem useful.

Please note that a one-to-one discussion of headline notes via phone or Skype is a standard element of the package in any report commissioned from Scriptgnostic.

REPORTS

SHORT SCRIPT REPORT

This will focus on the big questions you need to ask yourself. And provide headline notes for discussion in brief form. It will include pointers for the next stage of development. Maximum of 2-3 pages.

FULL SCRIPT REPORT

This will provide a headline notes on the big questions you need to ask as well as drilling down into the detail beneath the broad structure of character journeys to scenes, key story-beats and moments. Expect anything between four to five pages.

SHORT DOCUMENT CRIT

The nature of development is that you need to produce a lot of short documents which, in various ways, pitch your idea to financiers and other parties who you hope to interest. Some documents are more personal and intended as a mental map for the writer or the team. Whatever the case, it can be very useful to get feedback on these at an early stage if you don't want to waste time by plunging into the script prematurely.

This 'Crit', similar to the short script report, will focus on the big questions and help you to nudge development in the most productive direction. As always, a one-to-one consultation  via phone or Skype will be included and help you get the most mileage out of the notes.
